C'est Inspiré is simply that - what is inspiring. Where the words end, images continue to speak. Seeing all that is around us, we seek some aspect of something that is life enhancing... something that you would like to be reminded of - to revisit. Something to capture and bring into your world, not leave behind... . That is why I take a camera everywhere; have spent countless hours organizing images in scrapbooks and pouring over them later to revisit the place, the people, the memory.

So, C'est Inspiré may be a single photo - or it may be 50, it may mean one thing to me, another to you - the meaning isn't important. Did it inspire? Did it make you smile? Did it bring back a pleasant memory? One or all of the above will do.

During a brief period of his life, the legendary art historian Bernard Berenson kept diaries where he wrote about how to see - and what he saw. These diaries were published under the title The Passionate Sightseer and edited by Raymund Mortimer.

Anyone, anywhere, anytime can be a passionate sightseer - just look.

What's New : Sensorium

From now until November 27th, Sephora and Firmenich, the fragrance house, have staged a  4-D Scentsory exhibit in the Meatpacking District at 414 W 14th Street.  A $15 entrance fee is redeemable as a $15 SEPHORA gift card….

The SENSORIUM is described  as a multi-sensory, interactive fragrance exhibition that explores the emotion and instinct of scent through interactive experiences, film and 3-D art.

Visitors wind up at a fragrance bar and are given unidentified  fragrances.  First, the sniff test…do you like it or not?  Better yet, can you name the fragrance.   All the fragrances are grouped into categories such as Playful, Polished, Casual and Addictive.   Which led me to wonder ‘How are these fragrances grouped into ‘ flights’ or impressions…”

What impression do YOU give?

What's New : Does anyone iron anymore?

Cathy, Charlotte’s sister in Mississippi passed along this great short film about ironing called “I Always do my Collars First.”  This short documentary follows four Cajun women, and is an insightful and artful look at what most people consider a mundane chore.  It shows how a simple ritual as ironing can weave its way through the fabric of family life and a create a sense of identity. Which got us thinking.  Does anyone iron anymore?  Do you? Below are a few of our favorite ironing products from New York’s very own The Laundress , Pottery Barn and Ballard Designs as well as some helpful tips and advice on ironing. So plug in that iron, and pull out your shirts,  just remember, always do your collars first.

What's New : MISSONI – So on Target!

Get it while it’s Hot!

Missoni – the Italian brand that we all know for its signature chevron knitwear – has partnered with Target to produce a collection for fashion and home.  Available only through October 22nd, 2011 – if you have waited, it might be too late.

At the launch party in New York you had to move fast.  Missoni style had been stamped on everything from classic knitwear to luggage to desk accessories, childrens’ clothing – and my prize “Wellies.”  It didn’t take long to toss them into the bag and head to East Hampton.  So much more exciting than my green ones.  I picked up tunics, dresses, sweaters and coats for my nieces and my assistant.  It was a blast.
